Kolkata: An elderly person has been arrested at Regent Park police station for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl on multiple occasions in the last six months. On Wednesday, the victim's mother lodged a complaint and the accused person was arrested.
According to sources, the complainant resides at a rented house at Regent Park area. Since the last few months, she observed that her daughter was getting depressed and had reduced normal interaction with others, including family members.
On Wednesday night, her mother observed unnatural behaviour of the minor girl and asked her if anything was wrong. Although the girl did not say anything initially, she broke into tears when her mother put a little pressure on her. Later, she stated that their landlord, identified as Dipak Biswas aged about 69 years, whom she used to call 'grandfather (dadu)', had raped her multiple times in the last six months when she was alone at home.
Wasting no time, the girl's parents lodged a complaint at the Regent Park police station against Biswas. Upon receiving the complaint a case was initiated under section 376 of IPC and sections of POCSO Act and Biswas was arrested.
Meanwhile, the minor girl was treated and her medical test was conducted at M R Bangur Hospital. Sources informed that signs of sexual intercourse were found on her body.
