Siliguri: Purnendu Basu, minister for Technical Education and Training and Tourism minister Gautam Deb have visited different Industrial Training Institutes on Tuesday in Siliguri following the Chief Minster's direction.
The ministers started their inspection from ITI Batasi constructed on a land of 7.5 acre. The sanctioned amount of the project at Kharibari was around Rs 4.23 crore and Rs 3.48 cror are used till date.
The other ITIs on the inspection list were — ITI Phansidewa at Limbutari, Siliguri ITI, Women ITI and the second campus of Siliguri Polytechnic College at Jabravita.
"We are trying our best to help the students of the ITI sector. We are also looking into the matter placements from different companies which would help students," stated Basu. The unused areas in the institutions will be put to productive use in the near future. North Bengal Development Department has helped in completing these ITIs. NBDD wil soon start with the construction of the unmetalled main road to Kuntibhita. Maruti Suzuki had visited the institution along with the ministers on Tuesday.
