Family of deceased 2-yr-old ransacks hospital alleging medical negligence
Kolkata: Tension ran high at Naihati State General Hospital on Friday after family members of a two-year-old boy, who died of alleged medical negligence, went around ransacking a part of the hospital.
A team of police officers rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The victim has been identified as Swaraj Majumdar. He was in the hospital since last Wednesday after suffering from respiratory distress.
The victim's family alleged that the hospital authorities discharged the patient on Thursday. They brought the minor back to his house in Naihati. After his health deteriorated that night, the family took him back to the hospital. They alleged that there was no doctor available to attend him after he was rushed to the emergency ward. A doctor came in later and put an oxygen mask on him. The patient later died at the hospital. The family alleged medical negligence. Some of the locals and the victim's family ransacked a portion of the hospital triggering tension.
