Fake job racket busted, 6 arrested

Kolkata: Bidhannagar police have busted a fake job racket and arrested six persons including two high school teachers for their alleged involvement in the racket. 
Police said the accused had collected money from various job seekers by assuring them jobs. Police have seized fake appointment letters and some other documents.
On the basis of a specific complaint, police started a probe and came to know about the fake job racket that has been operating from the city.
The teachers have been identified as Suresh Jana & Abhijit Routh. Jana is a Physics teacher while Routh teaches Geography at two high schools at Mathurapur in South 24-Parganas.
Police suspect that they were a part of the racket who duped candidates with false assurance of providing jobs under the School Service Commission.
It was also alleged that fake appointment letters, fake call letters etc were issued to the candidates against a huge amount of money.
The matter came to light after some of these candidates recently went to the SSC office with the fake appointment letters that promised job in the post of Group D. The officials found that the documents were fake and informed the matter to the local police.
Police on Monday night seized Rs. 8.5 Lakh from Routh from his residence at Baruipur. In the course of investigation, Bidhannagar Police arrested Susmita Halder (21), a resident of Kulpi in South 24-Parganas, Rakesh Jana (32) of Purba Midnapur, Tamal Dinda (29 yrs), a resident Thakurpur and Somnath Chakraborty of Paschim Midnapur. Among the arrested there were some job seekers also.
Police are interrogating the accused to know if others are involved in the racket.
