Kolkata: The Kolkata Police on Friday night busted a cricket-betting racket and arrested four persons in this connection.
The sleuths recovered four mobile phones, two computer sets, cash worth Rs 2, 05,000 and one note book from the possession of the arrested persons.
An official of the Detective department of Kolkata Police said a raid was conducted based upon a credible source information at 6/B, Brindaban Basak Street under Jorabagan police station area in North Kolkata and three persons were apprehended while they were running the cricket betting racket through mobile applications.
The arrested persons are Kundan Singh (22) of Brindaban Basak Street, Jorabagan, Mukesh Mali (32) of Rabindra Sarani under Burtolla police station, Sanjoy Singh (42) of Durga Charan Mitra Street of Burtolla.
Later after interrogating the arrested persons, Md Sarjil Hossain (22) of Sambhu Babu Lane in New Market was arrested.
The police have been
vigilant against such cricket betting racket and on Wednesday six persons were arrested and 38 tickets of India- Bangladesh cricket match currently being played at Eden Gardens were seized from their possession.
