Update: 2017-02-17 19:04 GMT
A railway gangman of Pandabeshwar Kebin on the Andal-Saithia route spotted a crack on the track and alerted the authorities. The rail officials there saw the crack on the rail lines, following which, the officials stalled services immediately.

Mayurakhhi Fast Passenger was supposed to pass through the track. It was immediately asked to stop midway. The officials believe, a major accident could take place. But the gangman reacted promptly.

The rail officials said, the crack was identified on the down line towards Ukhra. The driver of the Mayurakhhi Fast Passenger, however, had suspected that there could be a crack on the track. In the meantime, he was informed about the incident and was asked to come to an emergency halt.

The officials investigated the matter. They suspected that sudden change in temperature in the area could be the cause of the incident. Notably, a similar incident took place a month ago. A crack developed on the up-line, alongside platform number 1 of Jagatda railway station of North 24 Parganas.

The local residents spotted the cracks and informed it to the rail officials. The clerks of the booking counters were primarily informed about the cracks. They soon had informed the Eastern Railway control room. A technical process was started and the staff had came in from Naihati. Another incident took place at North Bengal few months ago, where a local boy spotted a crack on the track.

Witnessing a big crack on the rail track, a youth pulled off his red shirt, started waving it to a running train to stop it. The train, Bamanhat-Siliguri Passenger stopped there. The youth managed to save hundreds of passengers as the driver-motorman and other railway employees spotted a big crack which could lead to a fatal rail accident.
