Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed deep condolence over the demise of veteran CPI leader and party's state secretary Prabodh Panda.
Panda suffered a massive heart attack on Tuesday morning when he was busy working in the party office.
Expressing her condolence over the sad demise of Panda, Banerjee stated that he was a veteran CPI leader and former Member of the Parliament. "I express deep condolence over his death," the Chief Minister said adding that he breathed his last after suffering a heart attack.
He was 72 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter-in-law. Panda had been the MP from Midnapore for 13 years and his death left a vacant space in the political world, Banerjee stated in a condolence message adding: "My deep condolences to the members of his family."
It may be mentioned that Panda was MP from Midnapore Lok Sabha constituency till 2014 till 200.
