Kolkata: A class II student was beaten up allegedly by a school teacher after the victim picked up his school bag from the bench before the class ended.
The incident occurred in a school in Salt Lake on Monday. The family members of the victim later lodged a complaint with the Bidhannagar North police station on the basis of which a probe has been initiated. The victim's father also lodged a complaint with the school principal through an Email.
It was learnt that the victim, Soumyajit Roy, a resident of Nager Bazar area is a student of a school in Salt Lake. It was alleged that the boy picked up the bag before the class ended and this angered the teacher. She slapped him repeatedly. The student received injuries on his face and below the ears.
The family members of the boy, however, claimed that one of the attendants had told the students that those who go by a pool car must pack their schools. On hearing this, the student was ready with his bag to go out of the class. But this did not go down well with the teacher. She started beating up the boy. It was also learnt that another boy of the class was also beaten up by the teacher.
The family members of the victim told the police that the pool car driver called the victim's mother saying that he received injuries on his face.
Later, the family members took the boy to a local doctor who, after examining the boy, said that he received injuries below both of his ears. The victim has been in a traumatised state and is not willing to go to school further. The school authorities have assured the family members that they will look into the matter.
