Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during the Assembly session on Wednesday lashed out at CPI(M) for not doing anything in past 34 years.
In reply to the question in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said that her government has increased allowances of 14,000 people. Various social schemes have been started for the Self Help Groups, school students and various others. She slammed the erstwhile Left Front government for not doing any development works during their regime. She also blamed the previous government for the loan burden of crores of rupees. The state government has decided to increase the allowances of the MLAs by Rs 5,000 for which a Bill will be passed in the Assembly on Thursday.
The Chief Minister once again reiterated that the previous Left Front government failed to do any development works which would benefit the people and improve the economic condition of the people in the villages. Instead of this, they left a huge debt burden on the present government. Fighting all odds, the Mamata Banerjee government has successfully implemented various schemes for the benefit of the people in the state.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also extended good wishes to the women on the occasion of International Women Day. She said that her government has provided 50 per cent reservation for women at all levels of the three-tier panchayat system in the state. In College Service Commission, 38 per cent seats have been reserved for women. After coming to power, the Mamata Banerjee government has introduced various schemes to improve the socio-economic condition of women in various sectors. The school students have been brought under Kanyashree scheme.
To provide better civic amenities to the people, the present government has upgraded many panchayat areas to the level of municipality. Five panchayat areas like Bagnan, Amta, Domjur, Andul, Bally West will soon be elevated to municipality.
For providing better civic services to the people, the government has also elevated some of the municipalities to the municipal corporations.
