Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will attend the European Economic Congress to be held in the Katowice city in Poland in May.
According to the sources in Nabanna, the Chief Minister will be leaving for Poland on May 9 and is likely to return on May 13. The European Economic Congress is scheduled to be held from May 10 to 12.
It is learnt that the preparation for the Chief Minister's visit to the European country has been started.
A delegation from Poland came to the state secretariat, Nabanna, a few days ago and invited the Chief Minister to be present in the ninth European Economic Congress. Banerjee accepted the invitation and later, the concerned officials started making preparations after receiving the nod from the Chief Minister's office.
It may be mentioned that Poland was one of the partner countries in the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) in which several foreign investments was assured.
A trade delegation from Poland had visited Kolkata and participated in BGBS. The participants had also attended business to business meets. Members of the delegation had even shown interest for trade between them and businessmen in Bengal.
On Wednesday, Canada's High Commissioner to India, Nadir Patel met the Chief Minister at Nabanna. Patel invited Banerjee to visit Canada during his courtesy visit to Banerjee.
Recently, a delegation from Australia led by Australian High Commissioner to India, Harinder Sidhu met the Chief Minister in Nabanna and invited her to Australia.
Besides Poland and Australia, Banerjee has also received an invitation to be a part of a Russian Business Summit.
