Robbers came to a petrol pump in disguise of customers and threatened the staff at gunpoint.
They took the money from the cash-box before speeding off on their motorbikes.
The incident took place at Dharampur, under the jurisdiction of Manikchak police station, Malda district.
The incident took place at around 11.45 pm on Tuesday, when bike-borne miscreants barged into the petrol pump. They stopped their bike there and reached the office of the petrol pump.
Brandishing their gun, they threatened to kill the staff if they did not give the key of the cash box.
They pointed a gun to the foreheads of petrol pump staff.
They took the key from them and opened the cash box and took a hefty amount of money from the cashbox and decamped from the spot.
They blank fired there before leaving the place. Malda police started an investigation soon after the incident.
It should be recalled that two petrol pumps were looted by the robbers in Malda recently. The modus operandi was almost the same in the Dharampur incident.
The investigators are trying to ascertain the connections between the two cases.
It should be recalled that six robbers barged into a petrol pump on at Nadia last year.
They took Rs 22.97 lakh in cash after injuring three workers. At 2.20 am, the masked men carrying knives, iron rods and a country-made firearm barged into the petrol pump.
The men first attacked the watchman Dhanraj, who was sitting outside the office.
