Actor Bikram Chatterjee has moved the Alipore Sessions Court pleading anticipatory bail.
Chatterjee was arrested on July 7 from near Acropolis Mall on Rashbehari Avenue Connector in connection with the death of model Sonika Chauhan. He was sent to judicial custody after he spent four days in the custody of the police.
Bikram is at present lodged in Presidency Correctional Home as he was being remanded to judicial custody till July 24.
His counsel moved the court on Monday and filed the plea seeking his client's anticipatory bail. The bail was sought stating that it was just an accident in which Sonika was killed and it happened unintentionally. The hearing in this connection will be held on July 20.
During his stay in police custody, he was taken to the spot where the incident had taken place and the entire plot was recreated.
Though Bikram had claimed that he was not drunk and his counsel is going to place the argument that there is no medical report that confirms that he was in an inebriated state, a section of common friends has given statements to the police stating that the actor had taken drinks before driving the car that night.
