Kolkata: The base fare of the app cabs like Ola and Uber is going to drop in the state soon. Sources said that the base fare will be finalised keeping parity with the regular air-conditioned taxis. It has been learnt that the base fare could come down to Rs 40. The surge fare will also not be more than 45 percent.
The app cab operators have given their letter in this connection to the state Transport department on Thursday. There was a high level meeting in this connection between the Transport department authorities and the operators.
An Ola spokesperson said: "…We have been and will continue to abide by the directions of the Transport department and the government. We will continue to strengthen the Ola platform and maintain a fair-price policy for the entire ecosystem."
