A 21-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in a beauty parlour by its owner and caretaker on Mukundapur Road at East Jadavpur in South Kolkata on Wednesday night.

Police said that the victim lodged a complaint on Thursday morning with East Jadavpur police station against the owner of the beauty parlour Rajkumar Mondal and the caretaker Amal Mondal.

The police subsequently arrested the duo on the basis of the complaint lodged by the woman.

Police said that the victim alleged that Rajkumar had asked her to come to his beauty parlour, Face 2 Face. She was asked to come to receive some training on beauty parlour courses.

After the woman reached the parlour, Amal brought over some food and beverage. The victim and the two accused ate the food and took the beverages. However, after she consumed them, the victim allegedly fell asleep and was later gang-raped by the two.

Usually, the parlour downs its shutters every day around 9 pm. On Wednesday, however, it closed two hours earlier. The woman claimed that she had earlier visited the place a few times and had a friendly relationship with Rajkumar. She had never thought that he could rape her.

When she told him that she was going to lodge complaint with the police against him, Rajkumar threatened her with dire consequences. She became scared and did not lodge the complaint against the accused until Thursday morning.

It is learnt that the accused had also made obscene video clippings of the woman when she had fallen asleep. He had also threatened to uploading the obscene clips on the internet if she went ahead and lodged a complaint with the police.

Finally, the victim contacted one of her friends on Thursday morning, who extended support to the former and encouraged her to file a complaint with the police. Since the victim was traumatised, her friend accompanied her to the police station for filing the complaint.
