2 killed, 20 others injured in 3 separate road accidents

Kolkata: Two persons were killed and as many as 20 persons including a 5-year-old school boy have been injured in three separate road accidents of which one accident took place in Barrackpore in North 24-Parganas while the other two at Howrah's Uluberia.
The first incident took place near Uluberia's Kadamtala on National Highway 6 on Thursday night.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Abhijit Bera who was travelling in a pickup van when it rammed into the truck from behind.
The driver of the pickup van and one other were injured in the incident.
Six other youth who were riding two motorcycles just behind the pickup van sustained injuries after the bikes hit the pickup van. All the eight injured persons were rushed to Uluberia Sub-divisional hospital by the local people.
Bera who was also taken to the hospital was declared brought dead by the doctors there.
Police said the accident took place at around 12.10 am on Thursday night.
The driver of the pickup van suddenly lost control over the vehicle and hit a truck stationed on the road side.
The bikers who were running behind the pickup van could not control the bike due to the suddenness of the accident.
Another accident took place near Jamberia under Uluberia on National Highway 6 on Friday afternoon.
 It took place when a Maruti Van hit a Matador from behind.
A woman whose identity is yet to be ascertained was declared brought dead in Uluberia Sub-divisional hospital.
Locals said the Maruti Van was running at a high speed when the driver lost control and rammed into the matador.
Six persons, who received injuries in the accident, have been undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The health condition of some of the injured persons is stated to be serious.
Police said the people travelling in Maruti Van were returning from Digha along the National Highway 6 at around 3 pm on Friday when the accident occurred.
They were all residents of Basirhat in North 24-Parganas. The locals alleged that drivers often drive at a high speed along the NH 6 flouting traffic norms.
The third accident took place on SN Banerjee road of Barrackpore in North 24-Parganas in which six persons including a 4-year-old school boy were injured when an auto-rickshaw and Toto (E-rickshaw) collided head on.
The drivers of both the vehicles and four passengers of the Toto were injured in the incident. They were taken to BN Basu Hospital in Barrackpore for treatment.
