Miscreants ransacked ten shops at Duttabad off Salt Lake late on Thursday night.
The police have started an investigation but no one has been arrested so far in this connection.
Local people alleged that the miscreants close to Nirmal Dutta, Trinamool Congerss Councillor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) had attacked the shops belonging to the supporters of Sabyasachi Dutta, Mayor of BMC after the shopkeepers refused to join the Councillor's group. They alleged that infighting in Trinamool had led to the attack on the shops.
It may be mentioned that though Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has said over and again to stop infighting, groups and sub groups continue to create trouble in different areas.
The miscreants attacked the shops, mostly eateries, late on Thursday night and ransacked them. The glass table tops were smashed and the chairs and tables were broken. When the shop owners came to the shops in the morning, they found them in shambles. The police were informed. A police team came to the spot and began an investigation.
Local people alleged that for quite some time, Nirmal Dutta had been trying to rope in some youth who belong to Sabyasachi Dutta's camp. When the youth refused, Nirmal threatened them of dire consequences. Local people alleged that more such attacks will be engineered in the future if steps are not taken to iron out infighting.
