Your struggle to grab a seat in Delhi University’s Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) will become a little easier if you had Punjabi as one of your subjects in Class X. Some DU colleges have decided to give a 10 per cent concession in admissions to students who fulfill the criterion.
But the concession comes with a rider. A student availing a seat under this programme will also have to take up Punjabi as one of the subjects for his/her undergraduate studies.
‘Ramanujan College under the additional eligibility criteria (AEC) has decided to give a 10 per cent concession in any course to those who have studied Punjabi in Class X. Such students will have to take up Punjabi as one of the subjects in the FYUP. Seats under this scheme will be available on a first come first serve basis from this academic session itself,’ senior officials said on condition of anonymity.
The college has reportedly also decided to give three per cent concession to all girl students in order to encourage more girls to apply.
Ramanujan College is offering nine courses with limited number of seats under Discipline Course-1 with a total of 771 seats in various courses that include Commerce 275, Computer Science 62, Economics 62, English 62, Hindi 62, Mathematics 62, Political Science 62, Psychological Science 62, and Statistics 62.
Official said, ‘The college is also providing three per cent deduction from aggregate percentage for students seeking admission to B.Com (Honours) from non-commerec streams. It will be mandatory of students from the humanities streams to have studied Maths and Economics in Class XII.’
