KMC gets ADB go-ahead for Rs 415 cr investment in water supply projects

After listening to an impressive presentation of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, Asian Development Bank (ADB) has finally given a go ahead for their highest amount of 415 crore investment for any water supply projects in India. The last time, they had invested 105 crore for a similar project for Kanpur city. This project will change the quality of life of more than 3 lakh people who are residents of 122,123,124,142,143,144 and a part of 125 ward residents. 

This water supply project is a dedicated water supply system for Behala area which will set up water booster station as well as over head reservoir. This will ensure 24 hours uninterrupted drinking water supply and old pipelines which supplies water to various households, will be refurbished/repaired/ replaced. 

KMC will also invest another 100 crore for a new water treatment plan in Garden Ridge which will  distribute and generate water to all these areas. After recent meetings with the top ADB officials, KMC has already floated the tender for this project and according to sources this project will be completed within two years.
