One month after he was kidnapped, an eight-year-old child was rescued by the Ghaziabad police from Bijnor district and reunited with his family. The police have also arrested one man in the case.
Police suspect the involvement of one of victim’s relative in the crime.

Gaurav, son of senior officer of UP transport department had gone missing from Kavinagar area and his abductors had demanded ransom of Rs 10 lakh for his release.

His father Jasveer, a resident of Sarvodya colony, had lodged a missing complaint at Kavinagar police station. Later, he informed police about a letter from the abductors in which they had demanded Rs 10 lakh.

During investigations, it was revealed Gaurav was kept at a house of government teacher, Harpal, in Sherkot area of Bijnor. When police conducted raid at the teacher’s house, they claimed they had adopted the boy from a relative. But later it was found that they had purchased the boy from his abductors. The teacher has been arrested.

Interestingly, the kidnappers had sold-off the boy to Harpal and also demanded ransom money from the child’s parents.

Police, however, have not revealed names of persons involved in the kidnapping for the purpose of investigations. “As soon as we got the information about the boy, we conducted a raid and rescued the him. The gang involved in this case will be busted soon,” said a senior police official.
