Kejriwal writes to Gadkari over E-rick, threatens agitation if issue not resolved

Kejriwal wrote a letter to Gadkari and asked him to clear the hurdles involved in plying of e-rickshaws at the earliest.

‘Poor e-rickshaw drivers are suffering for no fault of theirs and despite the PM’s assertion that red-tapism is being eliminated from the government offices, the reality seems otherwise,’ said Kejriwal in his letter.

He further added that ‘Gadkari himself had made big announcements at the Ramlila Ground on 17 June, but later those were found to be legally untenable.’

Kejriwal also added that e-rickshaw drivers of Delhi will organise a protest at Jantar Mantar on 8 October in support of their demands, in case the government doesn’t come up with any policy.

The Delhi HC had banned e-rickshaws in the city and made it clear that it won’t allow it unless the vehicles have proper registration, insurance and their drivers hold valid driving licences.
