Kejriwal to write to PM to have Chaturvedi on-board

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will write to the central government for having Sanjeev Chaturvedi on-board as Delhi’s top anti-corruption officer, a move which may not be easy, as the whistle-blower is apparently not in the good books of the NDA government.

Kejriwal will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office for the induction of the whistleblower, who was earlier the Chief Vigilance Officer of AIIMS, sources said.  “Sanjeev Chaturvedi will be a great asset to the Delhi government. We welcome him with open arms,” Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said. Sources close to Chaturvedi say he has given his approval to head the anti-corruption wing. Sources said the new government has already begun the process of bringing Chaturvedi to head the anti-corruption bureau. But, shifting Chaturvedi to the Delhi government won’t be easy and full of roadblocks. The move would require a no-objection certificate from the union Health Ministry, which Chaturvedi alleged has been targeting him for taking on powerful political interests. Not only this, it has to be given clearance by the Central Vigilance Commission and also the Cabinet Committee on Appointments.

The whistle-blower was shown the door from the post of Chief Vigilance Officer of AIIMS with the Health Ministry alleging that he was not eligible for the post and that his appointment was not cleared by Chief Vigilance Commission.
