Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced that he would soon write to the Delhi Police Commissioner to chalk out a joint-plan for the safety of women and the elderly in the city.

Addressing a conference of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Kejriwal urged the businessmen to invest money from their CSR funds for the poor, besides inviting them to join hands to make Delhi a better city, not only for the riche but also for the poor.

“Safety of both women and the elderly are serious issues and I am going to write a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner on the same. The letter to the CP will also address issues of traffic and pollution in the city,” said Kejriwal, replying to a senior citizen on the issues of safety.

He was addressing the national conference and annual session of the CII on ‘Economic Development of Delhi: What are the Priorities?’. “The country is looking up to our government, we want to work and achieve landmarks. We want to have a Delhi, a new and better Delhi not only for the rich but for the poor also. It’s our dream and it can be achieved. I invite you all to join hands with us to make it happen,” said the Chief Minister.

He reiterated his commitment to bring Delhi in the list of top five-corruption free cities in the world in the next five years. He also assured the business community that the government will work towards achieving the goal of ‘ease of doing businesses’ in the next five years.

He termed the VAT amendment as a landmark step of the government towards its commitment of easing the business atmosphere. Kejriwal also told the gathering that the government was working on a proposal to rope in private partnership in the operations of the Delhi Transport Corporation.
