Kapil Sibal declares assets worth Rs 114 crores

Over the last three years, union minister, Kapil Sibal’s assets have almost tripled from Rs 38.88 crore in 2011 to Rs 114 crore.

In his nomination paper filed on Thursday from Chandni Chowk constituency, Sibal along with his wife Promila declared assets worth around Rs 114 crore, which includes movable and immovable properties.

When Sibal had first filed his nomination in 2004 Lok Sabha,  he then possessed assets amounting to Rs 15.88 crore. Five years later, during the 2009 Lok Sabha election, Sibal had declared assets worth Rs 30.66 crore. According to Sibal’s affidavit filed in 2011, movable and immovable assets worth approximately Rs 38.88 crore were declared.

Sibal has shown Rs 77 lakh as income in his last year’s income tax return. His wife Promila Sibal has declared Rs 28.73 lakh income for the last financial year. Promila owns a house in New Friends colony in New Delhi whose market value is Rs 28 crore. Besides that she has also invested 17 Lakh in advance for purchase of a residential plot.
