The Delhi Election Commission will organise a Kabaddi tournament to woo voters in some areas of the national capital, a source in the poll panel said on Thursday.
Voters from Ladpur, Johnty and Nizampur villages in Delhi’s north-west district boycotted last year’s municipal corporation elections over land consolidation issues.
There was not a single voter from these three villages, according to the source. ‘Organising a Kabaddi match was the only option left for us to spread awareness about the voting rights, as many players in the Indian Kabaddi team are from these three villages,’ the source said.
Twenty teams will participate in the two-day tournament that starts on Friday.
