“There are five FIRs against her for various corruption cases pending with ACB. Instead of questioning her, ACB is allowing her to now dictate the terms of investigation,” said Mishra, voicing his concern over a letter reportedly written by Dikshit to LG arguing that the Fact Finding Committee constituted by AAP government into the water tanker scam was not as per law.
“Sheila Dikshit has written to you, raising issues with regard to composition, working and conduct of the committee. It is extremely unfortunate that an accused, instead of being interrogated by the ACB is given liberty to question the competence of the committee,” added Mishra.
He further alleged that the process being adopted to favour Dikshit is so blatant that every person is able to understand intentions of LG.Mishra had appeared before ACB for questioning on July 4 while Dikshit is yet to appear before the investigative agency.
“While forwarding my letter to ACB, you were careful enough to forward the one page letter sent by Vijender Gupta wherein he had raised the issue of alleged delay in referring the matter to ACB. MK Meena, ACB Chief was equally careful in ensuring that a common FIR was registered in both the matters,” alleged Mishra.
The water tanker scam took place during the tenure of Dikshit as chairperson of Delhi Jal Board.
Mishra who took over as chairperson of DJB constituted a Fact Finding Committee in June 2015 to probe into the irregularities in hiring some 385 stainless steel water tankers by DJB in 2012. In its report submitted in August 2015, the committee estimated the scam to be around Rs 400 crore and recommended an FIR in the case.
Alleging cover-up into the matter, the leader of opposition in Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta demanded the government to lodge an FIR at the earliest. Subsequently the matter was referred to ACB which filed the FIR on June 20.
