The judicial probe to look into the mid-night raid conducted by former law minister Somnath Bharti, against an alleged drug and prostitution racket in Khirki Extension, has been completed and its report is likely to be submitted to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on Friday, a source said. Sources confirmed that the probe, which was being conducted by a retired judge, has been completed and the report has been handed over to the Delhi government’s home department, which would further submit it to the Lt Governor’s office.
Najeeb Jung had ordered the judicial probe under a retired judge to look into the last month’s incident involving Bharti, who allegedly headed a group of assaulters in a midnight raid at Khirki Extension in south Delhi. Bharti had courted a major controversy when he had gone to a locality in Malviya Nagar, claiming that a drug and prostitution ring was being run by some African nationals from a residence and demanded a police raid in the place. However, the police refused, saying they had no warrant to do so. Delhi police had also registered a case on 19 January against unknown persons in a plea.
