In a move to reassure students and remove the sense of fear in them, in the wake of recent incidences of campus crimes, the general body of Jawaharlal Nehru University held a open house session on Monday, that started at 3 pm at the Convention Centre on the campus and carried on till late night.
There was a huge student turnout at the meeting and the students raised questions that have bothered them in the past few days.

Ravi, a Phd student who was present at the meeting said, 'During cultural nights and hostel nights students played regressive songs such as Chikni Chameli and Sheela ki Jawaani on the campus.’ He demanded that such songs, which depict women in a vulgar manner, should not be allowed to be played in the university campus.

Another student said, 'There are many students who come from smaller towns and for them, the atmosphere at JNU is alien and unique. It because it become very difficult for such students to accept women in shorts openly chatting with boys at all hours. It is administration’s responsibility to familiarise them with the culture here.'
