Jindal ranked 13th in Republican presidential race

This means Jindal, the first-ever Indian American presidential candidate, will not be able to appear in the first Republican debate being conducted by Fox News next week. Jindal, 44, also the first-ever <g data-gr-id="18">Indian American</g> Governor, has just two per cent of the votes as against the top ranking Donald Trump’s 20 <g data-gr-id="19">per cent</g>, according to the poll.

With 20 <g data-gr-id="25">per cent</g> of Republican voters, Trump is the clear leader in the Republican presidential primary field, but he trails any of three leading Democratic contenders by wide margins in general election match-ups, the Quinnipiac University National poll said.

Behind Trump are Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker with 13 <g data-gr-id="31">per cent</g> and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush with 10 <g data-gr-id="32">per cent</g>. No other Republican tops 6 per cent and 12 per cent are undecided.

Trump also tops the “no way” list as 30 <g data-gr-id="20">per cent</g> of Republican voters say they would definitely not support him. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is next at 15 <g data-gr-id="21">per cent</g> with Bush at 14 <g data-gr-id="22">per cent</g>.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is supported by 55 <g data-gr-id="26">per cent</g> of Democratic voters nationwide, with 17 <g data-gr-id="27">per cent</g> for Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont and 13 <g data-gr-id="28">per cent</g> for Vice President Joe Biden.
