Jeweller’s wife found murdered in E Delhi

A 63-year-old woman, wife of a jeweller, was found murdered at her residence in east Delhi’s Jagatpuri area on Monday. The assailants allegedly robbed the house of Rs 3-4 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs 6 lakh before fleeing away. The horrifying incident took place on Monday when Mohani was alone at her residence at C-13, Hazara Park in Jagatpuri. She was living there with her husband, Raj Kumar Gupta, and three children. Gupta has a jewellery business in Chandni Chowk.
The numbers of robbers is yet to be ascertained. At around 3 pm, when one of her sons returned home he found Mohani lying on the floor in a pool of blood with her throat slit.

He immediately informed his father about the murder and made a call to the police control room. A team reached the spot and rushed Mohani to the nearby Lal Bahadur Shashrti hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her body has been sent for the post-morterm. The evidence collected from the crime scene by the forensic team has been sent for examination. It is being suspected that the accused might be known to the victim. According to the statements given by Mohani’s family members they are suspecting the role of their former tenants. ‘We are questioning their ex-tenants and maid. Also, the CDR of deceased’s mobile phone has been accessed,’ he added.
