A JD(U) leader was on Sunday shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Bihar’s Nalanda district, police said.
JD(U) state minority wing general secretary, Munawar Rain was walking at Nala road towards his shop when unidentified gunmen waylaid him and fired indiscriminately at him, officer in-charge of Laheri police station, Om Prakash Singh said.
Critically injured Rain was taken to Sadar hospital, where the doctors referred him to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
He died on the way to PMCH in the state capital, Singh said. Rain was engaged in fish trade. Nalanda is native district of former chief minister Nitish Kumar. The police suspect the killing may have taken place due to a trade rivalry.
