The duo - DJ Andy Van Dorsselaer and vocalist/songwriter Cassie Van Dorsselaer had the time of their lives and we got a chance to get candid with them. Get reading!
Tell us about yourselves. How did you guys come together/start off?
We met when Andy was in the group Madison Avenue and I (Cassie) was a back up dancer for them. We started working in the studio together and have never looked back. We have great chemistry in the studio and with our live shows.
What was the first big break for you guys?
Definitely when we did the Vandalism remix of The Creeps by Freaks which was massive globally.
How would you define your musical philosophy?
Stay true to who you are and try to make it fun. We want to make people go out, get loose on the dance floor and forget all their troubles. Or dance around their bedrooms in front of the mirror. It doesn’t matter as long as their dancing. We want to make people happy.
Tell us a bit about your music, what do you think defines you guys?
We think it’s our big pumping main room energy, both in our music and our live shows
What/Who inspires you?
Anyone that is passionate about what they do, that's inspiring. My friends and family inspire me. We’re both obsessed with music videos and are always listening to music, new and old. Travelling also inspires us.
Tell us about your best tracks.
One of our favourite tracks was She Got It, a collaboration we did with Angger Dimas, a producer from Indonesia. Andy and I wrote it together and then sent it over to Angger to work his magic on it. It’s a big party track with a strong girly attitude.
What suggestions/advice would you have for newbies in music?
Get yourself some good software, like Logic or Ableton or Fruityloops, and watch about 100 Youtube videos. Look up 'How To Make...XX’ videos where the XX is the name of your fav song. That will really help you get your skills up, so you can start to make your own tracks. Put them on Soundcloud, start sending them out. Get noticed. Work very very hard, perfect your craft and don’t give up.
How has Delhi been for you guys?
Fascinating. We love the fast pace and madness here.
