Members of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) have criticised their former colleague and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal for showing them in poor light and calling them corrupt.
In a statement issued on Friday, IRS association said, ‘The IRS association takes cognisance of and conveys its anguish and hurt at various statements being attributed to you (Arvind Kejriwal) which malign the image of income tax department and its employees including various television and FM channels.’
Kejriwal has said, ‘I was a commissioner in Income Tax department. An ordinary IT inspector normally makes Rs 1 crore in a year. As commissioner, I could have made several crores and travelled in a car fitted with beacon light. But I left the service and decided to serve the nation’.
IRS members said, ‘We feel that the statements being made by you (Kejriwal) are unnecessarily damaging the image of this fine service’.
