The city experienced another blistering day on Sunday as the maximum temperature settled at 42 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s average, the Met Office said.
According to weather department, the situation will continue for two more days and the Capital is likely to witness light showers from Wednesday till the next weekend.
However, the weatherman has forecast dust storm conditions on Monday. The maximum temperature would hover around 41 degrees Celsius.
“The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 42 degrees Celsius, which is three points higher than normal, while the minimum settled at 22 degrees Celsius, three points below the normal,” said a senior MeT department officer at Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), New Delhi.
The officer informed that the maximum temperature was higher at some places such as Palam recorded 44.2 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal and 43.5 degrees Celsius at Ridge and Aya Nagar.
As offices were shut due to the weekend, lesser number of buses and cars were seen on roads. “We are waiting for evening to indulge in some weekend shopping,” said Jasprit Kaur, a homemaker.
