The incident took place at around 2.45 pm when the students, identified as Sagar, Divy and Pravesh were going to a stationary shop opposite the school premises in Keshav Puram.

While crossing the road, a speeding truck hit them. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Surender stopped the vehicle and the locals nabbed him. It was found that Surender was driving the truck under the influence of alcohol and he fell asleep while driving.

All the three children who were the students of class 8 were rushed to the nearby hospital where two of them — Sagar and Divy — were pronounced dead on arrival, whereas Pravesh received critical injuries. A case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Keshav Puram police station and the driver has been arrested.
