IndianOil gets award for green farming product

IndianOil bagged the prestigious Environment Leadership Award 2012 for their environment friendly and non-toxic product for Integrated Pest Management [IPM] Servo Agrospray oil. R K Malhotra, director [R&D] received the award from minister of state for agriculture, Harish Rawat on 20 September at New Delhi. The gala function was graced by the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Dhumal, minister of agriculture, Kerala, K P Mohanan and minister of agriculture, M.P, Ramakrishna Kusmaria. B.Basu ED [LT], S.Ravichandran, general manager [CD], S S Raghav, general manager [HR] and Pankaj Bhatnagar CRM [CD] all from the R&D centre were also present atthe award function.

The award was given for Servo Agrospray Oils, a range of eco friendly, non toxic products developed by the R&D Centre of IndianOil for controlling detrimental pests and insects occurring in agricultural crops. These products were extensively evaluated jointly with leading agriculture institutes in the country for their efficacy. In order to establish the performance of Servo Agrospray Oils, joint evaluation studies were conducted by leading agriculture research institutes, including institutes under Indian Council of Agriculture Research and Agriculture Universities for bio-efficacy and non phyto-toxicity on a variety of pests, insects, diseases in different agriculture crops. These oils fit well in Integrated Pest Management [IPM] programme, reducing overall pest management cost and significant reduction in harmful pesticide and insecticide contents. Servo Agrospray oils can be sprayed through conventional spraying equipment normally used by farmers for spraying of pesticides thus fitting well in the current pest management system. Besides extensive field evaluations of Servo Agrospray Oils, the toxicity studies established the non-toxicity and safety of these oils.
