With Karnataka assembly poll results set to initiate a process of realignment, the leader of the parliamentary party of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazgham (AIADMK) V Maitreyan has claimed that he foresaw a third front government coming to power with Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa at the helm.
Talking exclusively to Millennium Post, Maitreyan said that Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa would be the most suitable choice for prime minister. ‘I will be very happy to see Puruechi Thalai (revolutionary leader) as the next prime minister. What India needs today is a strong, bold, articulate and decisive leader and she fits this bill very well,’ he said.
When asked that every regional party leader, including Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati, has aspirations to be India’s next PM, he said, ‘Everyone can aspire but the main question is who will fit the bill. And as I said the country needs a strong leader and Madam is the perfect choice.’
Will the AIADMK align with the Congress or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the next elections? ‘It is too early to say, but one thing is clear that the Congress will not head the next government. I also do not see a wave in favour of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). I obviously visualise the regional parties holding the fort,’ he said.
‘Be it the Congress or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), they will never do justice to Tamil Nadu. The AIADMK will not align with either the Congress or the BJP in the run up to Lok Sabha elections. We will fight on our own. Madam has made that very clear,’ he added.
Slamming the United Progressive Alliance government, which is embroiled in multiple scams, he said, ‘This is a lame duck government in which bureaucracy is not listening to the political executive.
Every day the government is moving from one crisis to another and you never know when it will fall.
I feel with these scams it won’t be able to survive long. There is no governance. The UPA has become a Uttar Pradesh Alliance as it gets support from parties of that state – Samajwadi Party headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party which Maywati heads.’
‘I won’t be surprised if at the end of this year, general elections are held along with the state assembly polls of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and New Delhi,’ he added.
