Following the lines of other government agencies, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has announced to organise Raahgiri in the national Capital. The DDA has informed that the first Raahgiri programme will be held in Rohini in partnership with the Delhi Police and with the support of EMBARAQ on March 22. ‘Raahgiri’, a street fest concept, now popular in the national Capital region, involves people carrying out various activities on the street, minus the honking of horns and polluting vehicles.

“The idea was to bring the charm of the Walled City closer to people, as otherwise the streets, flanked by old buildings, are too noisy and too filled up to appreciate its beauty. And through this event, people could see, touch, feel and smell the city, literally,” said an official of the DDA.

“Activities including aerobics, zumba, yoga, dancing, singing, musical programmes and various other performances relating to Raahgiri objectives will be carried out. As this will be DDA’s first event, we have invited more suggestions in this regard,” informed the official.
