IM wants to kidnap CM to free Bhatkal, claim Delhi police

Update: 2014-01-20 00:24 GMT

Senior police officials said that they have received an input in this regard from intelligence agencies. However, it was not immediately clear what was the response of the Delhi CM in this regard to the Delhi Police.

Always the contrarian, Kejriwal tweeted, ‘Is delhi police n central govt playing politics with my security.’ The Delhi CM has been declining to take security cover keeping up with his Aam Aadmi Party’s policy to end VIP culture in politics.

While veracity of the claims could not be established, the barter with Bhatkal has managed to become a matter of chatter for the national capital’s twitterati.

Bhatkal, who hails from Bhatkal village in Udupi district of north Karnataka, was allegedly involved in a string of terror attacks in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bangalore, Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad, the NIA had said. He was earlier associated with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and is alleged to have hatched a conspiracy with others to wage a war against India.
