IIFT bags best vocational training institute award

The International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT) has bagged the award for the best vocational training institute for 2013. The award was announced as part of the National Education Excellence Awards, 2013.

Presenting the award to IIFT, Union minister for Human Resource Development, M M Pallam Raju, emphasised on the quality of education and congratulated the winners.

IIFT was established in 1990 to impart education in fashion designing, interior designing and textile designing. IIFT has a strong presence worldwide with 70 centres and a tie-up with 500 fashion export houses where professional trained from IIFT are working.

The jury for the event included Surendra Singh, former Cabinet secretary, Government of India; Professor Sukhdeo Tharat, former chairman, University Grants Commission, and chairman of Indian Council of Social Science Research; D R Kaarthikeyan, former director, CBI and Director General of National Human Rights Commission; Bhartendra Singh Baswan, former education secretary, ministry of HRD, Government of India and former director of  Indian Institute of Public Administration; M N Krishnamani, president of the Supreme Court BarAssociation; Ritu Beri, fashion designer and Dr Harbeen Arora, member secretary, Assocham Awards Jury and president Assocham Ladies League.
