Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a six-month training programme on Panchakarma therapy, a university statement said on Friday.
The vocational training programme on Panchakarma therapy – an ayurvedic treatment – was launched by IGNOU’s Centre for Traditional Knowledge Systems (CTKS). It is a residential, skill development programme, which includes practical and theoretical training with hospital posting.
The training will be conducted at the campus of Foundation for Revitalisation of Local Health Traditions (FRLHT) at Bangalore, a government recognised research organisation with a clinical centre.
According to the statement, training will begin in January 2013. The last date for submitting the application forms to CTKS is 25 December 2012.
Debjani Roy, director, CTKS, said, ‘Twenty candidates will be selected. Candidates interested can apply but they have to come to Bangalore and will be selected only after a personal interview.’
The course is open to both female and male candidates for capacity building and enhancing the livelihood opportunities. Applications are invited from candidates having passed tenth standard with functional knowledge of English between the ages of 18 to 28 years.
As per the varsity, fee for tuition, practical, clinical, study hours, library, evaluation, boarding and food will be free of cost for the entire period of six months.
On successful completion of the training, the candidates will be awarded a Certificate of Participation’. The applications are to be sent to the CTKS, Block-1, Room No 15, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi.
