A local court hearing the bail plea of Jahnvi Gadkar, accused of mowing down two persons in the city under the influence of alcohol, was on Monday told that if the corporate lawyer is let off, she might again commit a similar offence.

The Mumbai police said while replying to the bail plea moved by <g data-gr-id="18">Gadkar</g> on Friday, after she was remanded to judicial custody till June 26 by a magistrate court in Kurla, which adjourned the hearing in the case till Wednesday.

"We feel that if she is released on bail, she might commit a similar offence," police said. The police added she was solely responsible for the loss of two lives, and hence, her bail must be rejected. The reply says  if is granted bail, she may tamper with evidence. Police said <g data-gr-id="21">Gadkar</g> is charged with Section of 304 (II) of IPC making it a sessions court triable case, and hence, the magistrate cannot grant her bail. Police said they have enough evidence against <g data-gr-id="22">Gadkar</g> to prove that the killing was not a negligent act.

Meanwhile, magistrate Richa Khedkar also called for Gadkar's medical reports from the Byculla Jail after her advocate argued that she too had sustained injuries in accident and if no proper care was taken, it might turn into a permanent deformity.
