IAF’s UAV crashes in Barmer

An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) of Indian Air Force on Friday crashed after developing an engine problem at Akoda village, 30 km north west of Barmer district in Rajasthan around 2 pm, a top IAF official said.

UAV-HERON which took off from Jaisalmer airbase, immediately developed problem in starting of engine and crashed on land after falling from height, Wing Commander SS Birdi, PRO-IAF Delhi told a news agency over phone.

It was carrying qualified equipments and cameras. A court of inquiry has been ordered into the UAV crash, he said.

There was no damage to civil property and human life as the UAV fell on the open land.
