An Indian Air force personnel was arrested for rape by Gurgaon police on Tuesday night for rape in Palam Vihar area.
The accused identified as Muzaffar Wani, was in a live-in relationship with the victim since the past year and a half. Both the accused and victim are the natives of Jammu and Kashmir. The police said the victim works as an assistant in city-based hospital at Kadarpur. In her complaint to the police, the victim said that she has known Wani since the past two years. She was raped by the accused on the pretext of marriage. ‘Whenever the victim asked Wani about his promise for marriage, he would side-step the issue by making false excuses. After sometime, the accused started to ignore the victim’s phone calls’, said a senior police official. ‘After medical examination of the victim confirmed rape, the police registered a case of rape against Wani and arrested him from his hideout in Gurgaon’, he added.
