Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Sayed Maqbool, suspected to be the mastermind of twin blasts in Hyderabad on Thursday, has reportedly told Special Cell sleuths that a video of the recce done by him in April 2012 was prepared on the orders of Bhatkal brothers, founder leaders of IM.
A day after the blasts killed 16 persons and left more than 100 injured in Hyderabad, Delhi police Special Cell members went to Tihar Prisons on Friday to question five Pune serial blasts accused, including Maqbool. Reportedly, the Special Cell had specific inputs regarding the terror plan in Hyderabad for the last few months. Maqbool was arrested in October from Hyderabad in connection with the Pune serial blasts in 2012. ‘Soon after the recce, the video was sent to Riyaz Bhatkal. Since then, Bhatkal had been planning the attack at Dilsukhnagar,’ a source in Special Cell said.
Asad Khan, Imran Khan, Sayed Feroz and Langde Irfan Mustafa, also arrested for Pune blasts, told investigators that several areas were recced and videos were prepared for Bhatkal, the source added. Maqbool, a resident of Maharashtra’s Nanded and a fruitseller, allegedly taught IM members on how to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). In October, when they were arrested, thefive had said a terror attack in Hyderabad was likely. This information, along with several other inputs gathered by investigation agencies, was shared with agencies all over the country.
