There’s something very comforting about a dhaba. Imagine those long drives and the pleasure of getting to a nice dhaba to their tea and hot food. Win win! And here’s what Eros Hotel, Nehru Place did. They created a little dhaba at their Singh Sahib restaurant and whipped up some delectable dhaba food for their guests.

This dhaba festival was on till 30 November, replete with a live kitchen counters, hookah, khatias to chill on and a colourful cut-out of friendly-highway truck. But don’t worry if you missed it, they are going to have the food on offer for weekends right through December (and longer) but you need to sit inside Singh Sahib and enjoy the food.

Take your pick from the Highway Murg Tikka, Dhaba Mutton Sheekh, Patiyala Shahi Jheenga, Paneer Achari Tikka and the Subz Dhania Sheekh. We love our meat but the Subz Dhania Sheekh is exquisite. You can also try the Amritsari Tali Maachi and the Chicken Fry - they fry it up right in front of you.

For this festival they had a live Tadka Station where they gave you the main courses tempered as per your choice. They had the Kadi Pakoda, Rajma Masala. Dal Tadkewali and more spiced up right in front of you. Guests also got to pick from a great spread of Dhaba Meat, Murg Makhanwala, Machhi Tariwali, Dal Makhani, Lahori Choley and of course Sarso ka Saag. They have a great spread of Indian breads and saada chawal on the side.

We loved the Dhaba Meat, the Machhi Tariwali and of course the Dal Makhani and the Lahori Choley. The Sarso ka Saag and Makai Roti were perfect and how can a winter go without these on the menu!?

The entire spread had us left with the warm glow of well-made home food served in some great laid back comfort.  And that is how the hotel had the whole menu planned - they wanted  it to taste like great home food with all the warmth and happiness of not watching the calories.

Make sure you save some space for the lovely jalebis and the rabri - perfect ends to the incredible meal. For the more health conscious there are the fresh fruits that can be had with the rabri. But why would anyone miss the yummy fresh jalebis?

A meal for two comes priced at an easy Rs 1700 (without alcohol and taxes) and it is totally worth the money. So make sure you check it out over the next weekend.
