Union Cabinet Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Oscar Fernandes launched Busindia.com, the integrated bus ticket portal. Busindia.com portal brings together bus transport operators across the country under a single window, like IRCTC, through which users can seamlessly plan their bus travel including stopovers, changing routes, multi-trips, round-trips and hotel booking. The facility helps passengers plan their bus travel across Indian cities with ease. Radiant Info Systems Ltd., the Bangalore based technology solutions company has developed Busindia.com in partnership with the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT). 

BusIndia.com has already integrated 16 transport corporations from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Odisha, Meghalaya and Gujarat in Phase 1. Shortly, Phase 2 will see the inclusion of transport corporations from Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Puducherry and Goa along with other state-owned transport corporations.

Inaugurating the portal in Delhi, Fernandes said, ‘In India trains are widely used and over 1 lakh tickets are booked through IRCTC every day. The bus users are at least six times more in number than the ones that use train services. This shows the depth and potential of connectivity bus services has in India. Now bus travel will become a whole new experience for people all over the country and even to the people from outside India. This will go a long way and will set an example to several other initiatives that bear potential to implement online services in the G2C space.’
