Hooda lays foundation stone for medical college

UWith the laying of the foundation stone of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College at Karnal on Sunday, Haryana has taken another big step towards improving the facility of Medical Education and health care in the state. Haryana CM  Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the college, which is forth Medical College in the State, since the coming into power of Hooda in 2005. Kalpana Chawla, in whose name the college being set up, was  the daughter of Haryana and India, was a famous astronaut, who died during a Space Mission. The college building will be completed within a time period of 25 months.

The Rs 650-crore super specialty Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College would have 500-bedded hospital, OPD, maternity hospital, emergency, hospital block, nursing college, auditorium, animal house and other advanced facilities. The state government has provided Rs. 105.5 crore in the current financial year for the medical college.

Having excellent teaching, training and patient care facilities, the medical college will be constructed over an area of about 43 acres. Initially, it would have 100 MBBS seats. The construction will be carried out by Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation India Limited.
