After the arrest of 21-year-old Bhawna Yadav’s parents, the victim’s younger brother and maternal uncle are being intensively quizzed by the police.

In an alleged honour killing case, Bhawna was strangled to death by her parents, three days after getting married to her boyfriend, Abhishek Seth (24) who works as Assistant Professor at President House. A trap was laid by the victim’s family including few relatives who took the girl back to their residence in Dwarka area of south-west Delhi on the pretext of arranging a grand wedding following all rituals.

The couple got married on 12 November at Arya Samaj Temple and on 14 November the family took her back to her own house. On the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday, her parents identified, as Jagmohan and Savitri Yadav, strangled her to death. During interrogation, the accused parents confessed their involvement to the crime and said: ‘Jagmohan who has a property business strangled her throat and her mother covered her face.’ In a statement to the police, Abhishek told cops that his wife’s maternal uncle was also involved in the crime. Initially, he remained absconding but on Thursday morning he was apprehended and summoned to the police station to join the investigation.

Speaking to Millennium Post, the police official privy to investigation said: ‘We are intensively quizzing the victim’s maternal uncle, whose name has not been disclosed by the police, to know his involvement. No clean chit has been given to him.’ Along with the uncle, Delhi Police are also questioning Bhawna’s younger brother — Sanjay, a class 12 student. At the time of the incident, Sanjay was reportedly present at the crime scene. ‘No fresh arrests have been made in the case,’ the officer added.
