The projects include Heart Beat city of Amrapali Group, Great Valley Sharnam, Lotus 3C, Prateek Edifice and Sunworld Vanalika, all coming up in Noida’s sector 107. The buyers alleged that construction has been stalled since August 2014 and the builders and authority are not following court proceedings on a timely basis to address their woes.
“I have paid 90 percent of the amount of my flat by taking a loan but its future appears bleak. We are demanding that authority officials compensate our rental charges. Earlier, the authority and builders went on with construction work and kept buyers in the dark,” said Sanjeev Priydarshi, a buyer.
Another buyer Nirmala Arora said, “I had booked a 3 BHK flat in Heart Beat city of Amrapali Group and promised possession by 2015. I have been depositing EMI, but the construction has stopped. We are hoping that the construction will start and legal matters will be resolved expeditiously. My family also has the burden of paying Rs 16,000 rent for our house,” said buyer Nirmala Arora.
Tapasy Saha, a resident of Dilshad Garden had booked flat in Great Valley Sharnam in 2011 and the builder had promised to provide possession in 2013.
“I enrolled my two children in a private school nearby sector 107 keeping in mind that my family will shift in 2014. But now my children travel 25 km to go to school from Delhi. The builder is still demanding payment and threatening cancellation of the deal,” Tapasy said.
Many protesters were seen crying and agitating, blaming local authorities, builders and banks for creating problems in delivering the homes.
Noida Authority had acquired land in 2008 and 2009 in sector 107, but the acquisition was challenged by some farmers living in the area.
The builders later got the approvals for development of land and launched booking of their projects. The petitioners moved the Allahabad High Court and later the Supreme Court.
In August 2013, the Allahabad High Court ruled in favour of farmers and the notification of land
acquisition was cancelled, leading to stalling of most projects. Many Nukkar Nataks (street plays) were organised by various groups in sector 107, to muster support for home buyers left in the lurch in Noida.
