Exhibition of sculptures and art installation titled 409 Ramkinkars is on till May 6. 409 Ramkinkars by VIVADI envisions a cross-genre performance from our location in 21st Century India, while revisiting the creative milieu of sculptor-painter-scenographer-theatre artist, Ramkinkar Baij.
Next is an interactive multimedia presentation of Gita Govinda on May 27 . A multimedia experience on Gita Govinda, a 12th Century epic by Jayadeva was developed with the objective to familiarise audiences on the fundamental concepts of Indian music, dance, art and their inter-relationships and interpretation. The content was conceived by Kapila Vatsyayan, a scholar of Gita Govinda for over thirty years and an internationally acknowledged authority and pioneer of inter-and multi-disciplinary studies in the humanities, and the arts. Coming next is IGNCA Book Circle at Reference Library on May 28. The event is held on the fourth Thursday of every month.
IGNCA holds a film circle screening on the second and forth friday of every month. On May 8 it will screen Clay Images of Kumartuli. Winner of Rajat Kamal (National Film Award) for its extensive study of the craft and community of the Clay makers in the context of changing times under the category of best promotional film, to cover tourism, export, craft industry etc. The film focuses on the makers of these images settled in Kumartuli.
May 22 will see the screening of the film Lai-Haraiba directed by Aribam Syam Sharma. Lai Haraoba is the annual ritual festival of Manipur, which takes place in the month of April/May and is celebrated continuously for 7/9/13 days. The film bears witness to the creation of the Universe and life forms including flora and fauna, through ritual dances, dramatic performances
and processions.
